Chefs at school

Hello again and welcome back to school! 2018 is here so, here we go!!! We are fully back from Christmas holidays, and right now we are trying to create healthy desserts and have a tasteful afternoon at school…chefs are ready, so, do you join us?

The best part about getting in the kitchen with your kiddos is seeing how creative they can be with just two or three ingredients. Cooking is a fantastic way to get kids interested and even excited about food. They will have the opportunity to create their fantastic desserts while they reinforce their maths and readings skills in English as they follow recipes and measure ingredients. #allareadvantages

This time in year 6 we organize and store our favourite recipes (most of them are desserts) in a fantastic cookbook. Students are ready to wear aprons and hats, cutlery is set on the table, the ingredients are cheerful to become fantastic and wonderful desserts, so…let’s let our chefs surprise us with their creations.

Remember, that in the kitchen, it is important to review the rules, be with an adult, and enjoy while learning about food. Are  you ready? I guess I’m getting hungry… 😉

I leave you here the draft papers you must complete with the ingredients, equipments, steps to follow and serving suggestions. Remember to show me at school your papers so we can speak about it and discuss the recipe. Click on the image below and downoald the PDF archive to start working. At home you can complete as much recipes as you want and create a cookbook too.

I see you in the kitchens…I mean, at school chefs!

Christmas around the world

Can you believe it’s almost December?

Holidays are coming and I think this is such a magical month and time! Outside schools, lights, ornaments and carols are starting to appear all around saying us that winter holidays have finally arrived!

But, I haven’t finished my work at school with other topics and I’m thinking about the DIY activities I want to do at schools with my kiddos…I wish I could split myself in two to get it all done. Yes, I’ve realized that I’m feeling the Christmas countdown…

December is a very busy month. Finishing the term, rehearsing for the Christmas school theatre, preparing the Christmas cards…but don’t panic, we have time to do lots of activities.

I believe Christmas topic is a really fun unit for my students to learn about other countries celebrations and it’s because of that, we are going to study Christmas around the world at that time. #fantastic

I have created a unit full of different activities for them. The idea is to teach the students and to learn from them about other’s traditions, celebrations and more. Each child have a mission to complete and a country to discover. At the end of our search we will complete a fantastic booklet with all info and we will have travelled all around the world at Christmas season. Can you believe it? #cantwait

Do you want to come with us? Let’s start the travel…

Click on the image above to see the resource and you will discover how our journey starts! And if you grab the freebie, send me an email with ideas and suggestions and saying how you are going to use it, I’ll be happy to  see others works.

Meanwhile, hope you have a wonderful end of week…c’mon! It’s almost Friday 😉

See you soon

6th level computer graphics

Last week, I talked about the importance of using posters as a visual aid in our classrooms.

Here, and as in 6th level we are starting a project about New Zealand, I show you the computer graphics I have created with to guide the students and to motivate them to start working with all their ideas.

Now, you know that here you have some tips to take into account. Meet with your groups and distribute the tasks. I’m sure you’ll do a great project.

See you in class!
