6th level computer graphics

Last week, I talked about the importance of using posters as a visual aid in our classrooms.

Here, and as in 6th level we are starting a project about New Zealand, I show you the computer graphics I have created with https://www.canva.com/ to guide the students and to motivate them to start working with all their ideas.

Now, you know that here you have some tips to take into account. Meet with your groups and distribute the tasks. I’m sure you’ll do a great project.

The use of posters in the classroom

Yes, today I want to talk about the use of posters in the  classroom. Many programs, many approaches and many teachers used posters in their lessons nowadays, so, why don’t to include them in our daily classes?

This year, I have realized that with them I can teach tons of different topics to my students and of course, they can learn faster and better. Why? I think the reason is obvious, they can create the poster so they put in practice what they study in a very relaxing way. No pressure on them, no worries from them #itseasy. Of course, there’s no need to say that the effectiveness of its usage depend upon the proper selection and correct utilization of this graphic element. 

But let’s start from the beginning #go!

It’s a good idea to highlight the advantages of using posters as a visual aid in the learning process:

  • Posters can MOTIVATE our students.
  • They can HELP learners to focus on the main idea.
  • They can CREATE the posters by themselves.
  • Images are always better than just words.
  • It’s an effective way of catching their ATTENTION.
  • By having a poster in the classroom, our students are in a CONSTANT LEARNING.

Moreover, it’s also important to remark what features a poster should have:

  • SIMPLICITY: simple message so every student can understand.
  • BREVITY: less words, more effectiveness.
  • APPROPRIATENESS: correspondence to the subject matter.
  • ATTRACTIVENESS: necessity of capturing their attention.
  • DESIGN & COLOR: size, color and design are very important.

Once all it’s been explained, let’s see how can we use the poster in our classes.

In English we use lots of images because lessons are much more interesting when using them. We can design and use posters with different aims: to study grammar, to learn new vocabulary, to start daily routines, to consider culture as an important part of our learning process, to manage our classrooms, to help the process of teaching, to show good attitude in the class…as you can see, there’s no shortage of great teaching tips for sprucing up your classroom, so if you feel like changing your walls a little bit, just #addsomecolorandinspiration.

I’m increasingly convinced that kids have fun when we do posters because they take an active role when preparing them. It’s a different way of studying, of course, and they have to learn that having fun in the class is not incompatible with the fact of studying a new language.

Right now at school we are working different topics in all levels and we are starting to build our own DIY posters to learn as much as possible. When we finish, I will show you all the posters created by our children #Ipromise.

  • 3rd level: animals and their parts of body.
  • 4th level: describing people.
  • 5th level: adverbs of frequency.
  • 6th level: superlatives in New Zealand and its geographical wonders.

Important details!

Hola a todos!!!

Hoy os quiero a mostrar algunos detalles que estoy incluyendo en el blog y que hacen que tanto su apariencia como su funcionamiento, vayan cambiando! (Había que renovarse un poco, jeje)

Vamos allá!

Si os fijáis bien, y siempre teniendo el ordenador de frente, en la parte derecha, hay una columna con tres imágenes que nos van a resultar muy útiles a lo largo del curso…procedamos pues, a su explicación.

1. Imagen correo electrónico:

He cambiado la dirección de e-mail. Aquí os facilito la nueva por si necesitáis poneros en contacto conmigo. Si es así, no dudéis en escribirme. Estaré encantada de recibiros!

Ya sabéis, copiar la dirección e-mail y pegarla en vuestro correo.

2. Homework corner:

Este apartado es la antigua agenda que había en la versión anterior del blog. Iré recordando los deberes que tienen que hacer, pero recalcaré más que otras cosas, las fechas de entrega y presentación de trabajos y las fechas de exámenes.

3. My timetable at school:

Si tenéis dudas de si les toca inglés al día siguiente, aquí tenéis mi horario. Lo podéis consultar tantas veces como os sea necesario…yo lo miro unas cuantas veces al día 😉 y no creo que me lo aprenda hasta final de curso ;-(
